Topolovgrad Municipality and the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds (BSPB) organize the first "Festival of Traditional Local Products." It will be held in Topolovgrad on August 31, Saturday.
The aim of the Festival is to enable local farmers to present their products and traditional cuisine, including interesting recipes for home-cooked meals, preserved foods and more. Environmental friendly farming and land management of Natura 2000 is crucial for the conservation of endangered species such as the Imperial Eagle, Saker Оalcon, Egyptian Vulture and others.

Farmers from the town of Chiprovtzi and the village of Kurtovo Konare will be special guests and will present their jams, liutenitsa and other home-made products.
Tastings, sales and demonstrations will be held during the whole festival day. The event will be opened by the Mayor of Topolovgrad Bozhin Bojinov who will welcome the guests. A folklore concert will be organized including performances of amateur groups from villages of Ustrem, Sinapovo, Knyajevo and others. In the afternoon will be organized a visit to bison farm in the village of Orlov dol.
The festival is organized within the projects "Ensuring sustainable management of Natura 2000 sites, key to the survival of globally threatened species", funded by the Small Grants Programme of the Global Environment Facility (SGP of GEF) and the project LIFE+ "Conservation of Imperial Eagle and Saker Falcon in key areas of Natura 2000 network in Bulgaria ", funded by the EU.
